The cup is a smaller size, perfect for those of us who like a short (piccolo) coffee. A botanical illustration of red poppy flowers was hand-drawn into this piece at the leather-hard stage, then inlayed with a black slip. This creates an interesting textural dimension on the surface. The flowers and leaves are then painted with various layers of underglaze colours.
