What people say: "I love eating my home cooked lunch from your bowl.... and I love hand washing it afterwards. It's so cheerful!"
Bowls are my absolute favorite piece to make! They are so comforting, and versatile. And especially now, as many of us navigate living and working from home.
An original, handmade porcelain bowl that was wheel-thrown, and a perfect size for a single-serve. A whimsical image of blue coneflowers is carved into the surface using a technique that originated in Korea known as mishima, in which I incised the drawing into leather-hard clay and then inlayed a black slip (liquid clay) into the illustrated lines. The flowers and leaves are then hand-painted on. A clear glaze is applied over the entire piece, except the base.
Dimensions: This coupe design is perfect as an all purpose, single-serve bowl. It comfortably holds 2 cups (16oz). Use it for your breakfast cereal, soup, ramen, slice of pie or to heat up that leftover Thai curry!
Size is approximately 2 in (5 cm) tall with a 8 in (20 cm) diameter at the rim.
** Locally supplied fine porcelain clay and glazes
** Glazes used are food-safe
** Microwavable and dishwasher proof (although hand washing is recommended to prolong the life of the piece)
** Suitable for both cold or hot contents
Please note: Handmade ceramic wares by their very nature are unique, inconsistent and may have some imperfections that do not detract from the beauty and function of the piece. Instead, these are indications of the maker's hand and I encourage you to embrace them. If multiple quantities of this piece is available, they may be similar but they won't be identical, as each one of them is individually made.
Please send me a message if you'd like to enquire about ordering multiple quantities, to order this piece or other bowls in another of my botanical designs, or to order this blue coneflower design on another of my wheel-thrown forms.
