What people say: "Your mugs are so lovely and lightweight to hold. The handles are very comfortable"
This is an original, handmade mug that was wheel thrown from fine porcelain clay. A whimsical illustration of busy bees in a summer meadow was hand carved into the surface (on the outside, inside the rim, and on the bottom), then those carvings were inlayed with black slip in a surface decorating technique known as 'mishima', which originated in Korea. The accents for the bees and flowers were then hand painted. A clear glaze is applied over the entire piece except for the base.
Approx. 4 in (10 cm) tall and has a 3.5 in (8.9 cm) diameter at the rim, plus another 1.5 in (3.8 cm) for the handle.
This handmade mug holds 12oz (350ml).
** Made from locally sourced materials
** Food safe glazes
** Dishwasher safe (as long as it's loaded carefully. Hand washing your porcelain items will help them last longer)
** Microwave safe
** Handmade ceramic wares by their very nature are unique, inconsistent and may have some imperfections that do not detract from the beauty and function of the piece. Instead, these are indications of the maker's hand and I encourage you to embrace them.
OTHER INTERESTING INFORMATION:
I have an engineering background, so my preference is to create pieces based on good fundamental design principles that are concerned with good ergonomics for functional wares.
Each piece I make is unique and one of a kind. Please keep this in mind when ordering sets of multiple pieces - they will not be identical, but they will be similar. In fact, your piece may not be the same one shown in these images but it will look very similar to it.
Please send me a message if you'd like to enquire about ordering multiple quantities, to order this piece or other handmade mugs in another of my botanical designs, or to order this bee design on another of my wheel-thrown forms.
