What people are saying: "I love your use of bold, bright colors. All your illustrations are so cheerful"
This is a handmade porcelain oval serving platter or tray. A botanical illustration of cheerful yellow daffodils is carved into the surface using a technique that originated in Korea known as mishima. I incised the drawing into leather-hard clay and then inlayed a black slip (liquid clay) into the illustrated lines. The flowers and leaves are then hand-painted on. A clear glaze is applied over the entire piece, except for the base.
This handmade platter is a perfect size for multiple purposes from serving up a dish to share at the table, to a tray of cookies or petit fours.
Dimensions: This handmade plate is approximately 13 inches (33cm) long, 7 inches (18cm) wide, and around 1 inch tall.
** Locally supplied fine porcelain clay and glazes
** Glazes used are food-safe
** Microwavable and dishwasher proof (although please load it carefully - hand-washing is recommended to prolong the life of the piece)
** Suitable for both cold or hot contents
Please note: Handmade ceramic wares by their very nature are unique, inconsistent and may have some imperfections that do not detract from the beauty and function of the piece. Instead, these are indications of the maker's hand and I encourage you to embrace them. If multiple quantities of this piece is available, they may be similar but they won't be identical, as each one of them is individually made.
This handmade oval platter, or tray, makes a perfect housewarming or newlywed gift, but is also wonderful for those of us who are celebrating the Holidays at home this year.
Please send me a message if you'd like to enquire about ordering multiple quantities, to order this piece or other serving dishes in another of my botanical designs, or to order this daffodil design on another of my wheel-thrown forms.
