This is an original, handmade porcelain plate that was wheel-thrown from fine porcelain clay. A whimsical image of bright and cheerful, yellow daffodil flowers is carved into the surface using a technique that originated in Korea known as mishima, in which I incised the drawing into leather-hard clay and then inlayed a black slip (liquid clay) into the illustrated lines. The flowers and leaves are then hand-painted on. A clear glaze is applied over the entire piece, except for the base. The design of the daffodils covers the front, back and rim of the plate.
Dimensions: This plate is approximately 8 inches (15-16 cm) in diameter and less than 1 inch tall. It is perfect for lunch, tapas, snacks or sides. This plate stacks neatly with my other small plates if you wanted to purchase them in a set.
** Locally supplied fine porcelain clay and glazes
** Glazes used are food-safe
** Microwavable and dishwasher proof (although hand-washing is recommended to prolong the life of the piece)
** Suitable for both cold or hot contents
Please note: Handmade ceramic wares by their very nature are unique, inconsistent and may have some imperfections that do not detract from the beauty and function of the piece. Instead, these are indications of the maker's hand and I encourage you to embrace them. If multiple quantities of this piece is available, they may be similar but they won't be identical, as each one of them is individually made.
This unique, handmade plate would brighten up your meals, and make a lovely gift for a special occasion such as mothers day or weddings.
Please send me a message if you'd like to enquire about ordering multiple quantities, to order this piece in another of my botanical designs, or to order this daffodil design on another of my wheel-thrown forms.
