What people are saying: "Your cup makes me smile EVERY time I use it! It feels really well balanced and the handle is so comfortable. Your engineering background is very evident. I love that I can put it in the dishwasher!"
This is an original, handmade porcelain coffee mug or tea cup that was wheel-thrown, and comfortably holds 12 oz (350ml). A whimsical image of red poppy flowers is carved into the surface using a technique that originated in Korea known as mishima, in which I incised the drawing into leather-hard clay and then inlayed a black slip (liquid clay) into the illustrated lines. The flowers and leaves are then hand-painted on. A clear glaze is applied over the entire piece, except for the base.
Size: This handmade mug comfortably holds 12 fluid oz, or 350ml. It's perfect for your coffee or tea refills throughout the day, and can be reheated in the microwave as needed.
Dimensions: Approximately 4in (10 cm) tall, 3.5in (8.5 cm) diameter plus an extra 1.5in (3.5 cm) for the handle.
** Locally supplied fine porcelain clay and glazes
** Glazes used are food-safe
** Microwavable and dishwasher proof (please load your handmade piece in the dishwasher carefully - hand-washing is recommended to prolong the life of the piece)
** Suitable for both cold or hot contents
Please note: Handmade ceramic wares by their very nature are unique, inconsistent and may have some imperfections that do not detract from the beauty and function of the piece. Instead, these are indications of the maker's hand and I encourage you to embrace them. Your piece may not look identical to the one shown in the image, but it will be similar. That's because every piece is handmade and unique.
