An original, handmade porcelain bowl that was wheel-thrown, and a perfect size for a small or side serve. A whimsical image of a field of blue coneflowers is carved into the surface using a technique that originated in Korea known as mishima, in which I incised the drawing into leather-hard clay and then inlayed a black slip (liquid clay) into the illustrated lines. The flowers and leaves are then hand-painted with underglazes. A clear glossy glaze is applied over the entire piece.

Dimensions:

18cm (7 inches) diameter x 9cm (3.5 inches) tall

This is a perfect medium bowl for a single meal serve, or a small shared dish. It comfortably holds a little more than 2 cups (16oz).

** Locally supplied fine porcelain clay and glazes
** Glazes used are food-safe
** Microwavable and dishwasher proof (although hand-washing is recommended to prolong the life of your piece)
** Suitable for both cold or hot contents

Please note: Handmade ceramic wares by their very nature are unique, inconsistent and may have some imperfections that do not detract from the beauty and function of the piece. Instead, these are indications of the maker's hand and I encourage you to embrace them. Although I make multiple small bowls, each one is unique. The size and shape will be similar but never identical.

I create each of my pieces in my home studio in Brisbane, Queensland, Australia. I'm often drawing inspiration from the florals found around our beautiful city neighbourhoods and parks.

Perfect as a thoughtful and unique gift for any special occasion.

Shipping: I am currently only shipping within Australia and New Zealand. A fixed shipping cost of $28 (Australia) and $35 (NZ) is applied to each medium bowl. I will carefully package your piece to ensure it arrives safely, however please contact me as soon as possible if your piece is damaged during shipping - and take photographs of the damaged item and packaging for insurance purposes. If purchasing multiple items, any shipping overages of more than $5 will be refunded back to you.
