This is an original, handmade porcelain plate that was wheel-thrown. It is a standard size for a lunch plate, perfect for your light meal, cake or a shared plate of treats. A botanical illustration of jacaranda flowers was hand-drawn into this piece at the leather-hard stage, then inlayed with a black slip. This creates an interesting textural dimension on the surface. The flowers and leaves are then painted with various layers of underglaze colours. A clear glossy glaze is applied over the entire piece.
Dimensions:
Lunch plate - 18cm diameter, 2cm tall
A lovely small plate for your daily personal lunch or a shared treat.
** Locally supplied fine porcelain clay and glazes
** Glazes used are food-safe
** Microwavable and dishwasher proof (although hand-washing is recommended to prolong the life of your piece)
** Suitable for both cold or hot contents
Please note: Handmade ceramic wares by their very nature are unique, inconsistent and may have some imperfections that do not detract from the beauty and function of the piece. Instead, these are indications of the maker's hand and I encourage you to embrace them. Although I make multiples of this type of piece, each one is unique. The size and shape will be similar but never identical.
I create each of my pieces in my home studio in Brisbane, Queensland, Australia. I'm often drawing inspiration from the florals found around our beautiful city neighbourhoods and parks.
Perfect as a thoughtful and unique gift for any special occasion.
I will carefully package your piece to ensure it arrives safely, however please contact me as soon as possible if your piece is damaged during shipping - and take photographs of the damaged item and packaging for insurance purposes. If purchasing multiple items, any shipping overages will be refunded back to you.
